Lance Sanderson, Fourth Grader

The story of one boy’s adventures in early 1980s Central Washington

Lance Sanderson is an early work, recently refreshed. Unlike most of my writing, this is a children’s story, following the journal notes of a fourth-grade boy in his small (and new) Central Washington home of Granger. Lance is observant—perhaps a bit precocious and naïve—and writes about his family, his friends, school, sports, and priests (and Baptists).

Over the course of a school year, Lance gets to know a new kid named Simon, who is struggling to find his way.
